From Struggle to Stability: Jane’s Journey with Forum Kenya in Kisii

In the quiet hills of Kisii County, Jane Kemunto, a mother of three, reflects on how her life has transformed since joining a local self-help group supported by Forum Kenya.

“Before the group, I could barely save anything,” she shares. “I depended on casual jobs and always worried about school fees and daily needs.”

Things began to change when Jane joined the Ebenezer Women Group in early 2023. Through regular savings, financial literacy sessions, and group mentorship, she began planning her finances and setting personal goals.

With encouragement from her group, Jane started a small vegetable stand near the market. “It wasn’t easy at first, but I had support. The group gave me confidence to keep going,” she says with a smile.

Now, her income is steady, her children are in school, and she has even started helping another young woman in her village set up a similar business. “I’ve learned to plan, to save, and to believe in myself,” Jane adds.

Her story is one of many that remind us why Forum Kenya exists: to build stronger communities, one person and one group at a time.
