About Forum Kenya Development Foundation

Forum Kenya is a registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in the Republic of Kenya. It is a grassroots, community-centered development foundation committed to empowering individuals and groups across Kenya through structured savings, affordable credit, practical training, and social support.

Founded in response to widespread poverty and resource underutilization in rural and peri-urban areas, Forum Kenya works hand-in-hand with Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), youth networks, and women’s collectives. Our aim is to promote self-reliance, dignity, and sustainable development—not through handouts, but through skills, structure, and shared responsibility.

Our Approach

At the heart of Forum Kenya’s model is a belief that local people are the best architects of their own transformation. We mobilize and train small groups to manage their own savings, access low-interest loans through our Revolving Loan Fund, and build businesses that support families and communities.

Our empowerment centres serve as development hubs, where members receive regular coaching in financial literacy, agribusiness, leadership, digital skills, and conflict resolution. These hubs also act as safe spaces for planning, reporting, and problem-solving.

Our Core Projects

1. Community Empowerment
Forum Kenya works with individuals and organized groups to identify and harness local resources for sustainable development. Through mentorship, group organization, and participatory planning, we help communities take ownership of their growth and transform challenges into opportunities.

2. Revolving Loan Funds
This project provides structured, low-interest financial support to self-help groups and local entrepreneurs. Members build savings and access loans to start or grow small businesses, invest in farming, or meet urgent needs—all within a transparent, group-managed system.

3. Capacity Building
We deliver hands-on training in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, leadership, modern agriculture, and digital skills. These trainings equip community members with the knowledge and confidence to manage resources effectively and lead their groups with integrity.

Our Impact

From Bomet to Juja, Kisii to Nairobi, Forum Kenya has helped build resilient groups that are managing resources, running successful small enterprises, and transforming their communities from within. We have supported hundreds of groups and thousands of individuals—many of whom had never accessed formal training or affordable financial services before.

“We don’t give handouts—we walk with communities until they can walk on their own.”

Our Vision

To relieve poverty and promote dignity through the responsible use of local resources.

Our Mission

To enhance the spirit of self-reliance in Kenyan communities through training, credit access, and ethical group development.
