Forum Kenya believes that sustainable development begins with well-informed, well-equipped individuals and groups. Our Training & Capacity Building program is designed to empower members of self-help groups (SHGs), community-based organizations (CBOs), and youth and women’s collectives with practical knowledge and tools for self-reliance and effective group management.

Key Focus Areas

  1. Financial Literacy
    • Teaches budgeting, saving, record keeping, and responsible borrowing
    • Trains members to understand and manage group loans and advances
    • Builds awareness on fraud prevention, accountability, and transparency
  2. Leadership & Group Governance
    • Equips group officials (chairpersons, secretaries, treasurers) with leadership, conflict resolution, and communication skills
    • Offers training on how to run effective meetings, elections, and compliance with Forum Kenya’s Code of Conduct
    • Emphasizes ethical leadership and democratic decision-making
  3. Agribusiness Skills
    • Introduces modern farming techniques tailored to local environments
    • Provides training on livestock management, crop rotation, post-harvest handling, and value addition
    • Connects farmers to local markets and encourages record-keeping in agriculture
  4. Digital Literacy
    • Trains youth and group leaders in basic digital skills
    • Teaches safe use of social media, email, mobile money platforms, and online tools
    • Encourages use of digital platforms for group coordination and transparency
  5. Customer Care & Communication
    • Builds soft skills to improve service, negotiation, and business relationships
    • Enhances members’ confidence in engaging clients and managing micro-enterprises
